High Ranking Mainland China Expert Goes to Hong Kong to Observe the Protests

After the Chinese Communist regime blocked news reports about the June 9 protest of an extradition bill that occurred in Hong Kong, a retired professor of the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China has anxiously returned to Hong Kong to observe the situation. He said he hopes that the Hong Kong people’s opposition to mainland China encroaching on their autonomy can trigger the collapse of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The octogenarian professor, who prefers to be called by the alias Mr. Chen, told the Hong Kong edition of The Epoch Times that he did social and law studies for over 60 years, and was a consultant to the CCP regarding the construction of legal institutions. At one time his correspondence directly reached the CCP headquarters at Zhongnanhai.

Chen’s interest was piqued when prior to the 30th anniversary of the June 4th Tiananmen Massacre, the CCP tightened its control over the internet so the Chinese people couldn’t read about related activities in other countries. Many Weibo and WeChat accounts were blocked. He wasn’t able to get any news about developments in Hong Kong, so he decided to go and see what was happening for himself.

“Recently the internet blockade has been very tight, unprecedentedly severe. Anything related to June 4th is blocked. Mainland Chinese know nothing about the outside world’s reports about Xi Jinping, politics, or Hong Kong. Everything is blocked, including NTD TV programs. People in China know nothing whatsoever,” Chen said.

In Hong Kong, Chen witnessed the massive vigil in Victoria Parkcommemorating the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Over 180,000 people attended the event.

He said that what he saw was very powerful and soul stirring, and he immediately relayed what he had seen and heard to his friends in China. He said that they were very excited, and started watching closely the development of the situation in Hong Kong.

Because of the stay limit of his travel document, Chen had to return to China before June 9, and therefore regretfully missed the grand protest that occurred that day.

Before the June 9 protest, when Chen told his friends that he estimated that there could be as many as 1 million people participating in the parade, no one believed him.

The facts prove that he was correct. Chen said this shows that people in Hong Kong are not afraid of the CCP, which will greatly encourage people in Mainland China.

He said, “I read all the newspapers in Mainland China. Not one word about the protest in Hong Kong was ever mentioned. Everything is tightly blocked. You can see nothing at all.”

However, he managed to revisit Hong Kong and will stay for a few days to see what happens.

Chen explained that many people in China are also eagerly watching Hong Kong’s situation. They believe this could be the time to trigger the disintegration of the CCP.

He said: “This is the time when people in China should take a stance. As intellectuals who support universal values, it’s time for us to shoulder responsibilities. Even if it means you need to sacrifice your life, you need to stand up and speak out now. Otherwise you are not worthy of being called an expert. You are not even worthy of being a Chinese person or a human being of the world.”

He thinks that many people in China are waiting in earnest for the CCP to fall. “We know they [the regime] are afraid. We know they are weak.”

Chen said the CCP is encountering all sorts of problems now. “One of its crisis is that it has lost the support of the people. It does not respect the rule of law. Instead, it uses laws to suppress people. Its violation of human rights has gone so far that it is beyond tolerance.”

Chen said he has collected evidence of the crimes of a large number of CCP officials and is prepared to submit them to the United Nations when the time is right.
