這幅米開郞基羅雕像爲羅倫斯聖洛倫佐教堂（San Lorenzo）新聖器室（New Sacristy）中雕像《夜》所繪的設計手稿，是他最具震撼力的作品之一。在這幅手稿中，他把注意力集中在人物的軀幹的腿部上，其他部分略過或只是很大致的勾畫。
