The Longest Distance Between Two People Is... 人與人之間最遠的距離，在於各自讀著不同的媒體
While waiting for a friend in a Chinese restaurant in Washington DC today, I overheard two young Chinese women at the next table talking about the situation in Hong Kong. One said in Chinese, “Two million people took to the street! They were mainly young students who were easily misled and knew nothing about the real situation. “
今天在華盛頓一家中餐館等朋友來一起吃飯時，突然聽到鄰桌上的兩個年輕中國女孩在說話。一個說：「香港居然有兩百萬人上街遊行。都是些學生，很容易被煽動的不明真相的小年輕。」
Another woman agreed, “Yes, what a pity. They were fooled and manipulated.”
另一個附和道，「是啊，真可惜，太容易上當受騙被利用了……」
I sighed to myself, and didn’t know what to think or say. Then I remembered a very famous sentence beginning with, “The longest distance between two people is…”
我不由得嘆一口氣，不知該做何感想。然後腦子裏突然冒出那個著名的「金句」：「人與人之間最遠的距離，不是……而是……」
Almost “automatically”, I finished this sentence in my mind like this, “The longest distance between two people is the different media they are reading. “
根據這個句式，我就造出一個新的金句來：「人與人之間最遠的距離，不在於空間，而在於他們在讀著不同的媒體……」
It was very obvious that although those two young Chinese women live in the capital city of the USA, they are still reading Xinhua or People’s Daily, or other Chinese media that carry the same kind of message and propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party.
很顯然，這兩個中國女孩，雖然人在美國首都華盛頓，但仍然讀著來自中國大陸的中文媒體，和重複著中共官方句式的中文社交媒體圈中所流行的內容，所以她們頭腦中的香港青年和香港民衆抗爭的意義和概念，與我頭腦中的才會完全背道而馳。

If one understands Chinese, one will see how differently different Chinese language newspapers in Hong Kong were reporting about the July 1st march in Hong Kong, which was attended by 550,000 people.
爲什麼我會造出這個新「金句」呢？看看以下不同媒體對香港七一大遊行的報導就明白了。同一件事，不同的媒體來報，會有多麼大的差別？
As for the English language newspapers, the Epoch Times is the only one that published the news about the Hong Kong protest as its first headline on the front page.
至於英文媒體，大家也可以看到，在7月2日那天陳列於美國國家記者俱樂部的英文報紙中，只有英文大紀元是把香港大遊行作爲真正的頭條來報導的。
又：後來朋友來了，告訴我一個他聽到的消息說，最近，美國共和黨成員訂閱英文大紀元的人數增長了五倍。
