Discovery of Fire
by Gerard Traub
Much more are we
than confined to flesh
mere skin and frame
housed in matter
limbs to life of blood
coursing through our veins.
Suspended in eternity
stretched across moments
between stars and constellations
moving as the oceans
under laws unseen
endless rhythm and gestation.
How dull the human eye
ignite these memories
worlds from which we descend
sun when souls awakening
come stir every human heart
until our discovery of fire again.
