A Girl As Old As the Persecution
This morning, when I saw Matt Pinner sharing a photo of his newborn baby, I commented: “Congrats! Bringing a new life into this world is always wonderful and it shows one's confidence and trust in humanity.”
Then I couldn’t help myself from sharing the following.
Once, my sister refused her would-be husband for many years; the only reason was that he was the only son in the family and the pressure to produce offspring for the family was too immense.
She said, "I don’t know how I should educate my children in this chaotic world. If I teach them to be honest, they might get cheated and taken advantage of by others. But how can I teach them to be dishonest?"
So she refused to marry him.
It was only after she started practicing Falun Gong that her confusion was resolved. Like me, she not only found a new purpose for her life and a new way to live, but she also understood how she should educate her future children.
So she finally married and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
But alas! The year her baby was born, the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong. She was expelled from her job at the court and forced into hiding.
When I was released from the labor camp, I wandered around the country, fearing I might get arrested again. I secretly returned to my hometown to visit my parents.
That was the first time I saw her daughter, who was only less than two years old. She had just started learning how to say "mom," so she insisted on calling me "mom" no matter how others told her she should call me aunt… It was heartbreaking to see how a little baby couldn't live with her mom.
I tried to help my sister escape to a safer place. But alas! She was arrested on the bus just before she was about to board a train and leave with me.
She was then sentenced to 18 months in a labor camp. I didn’t know what happened to her there. In any case, she was forced to denounce Falun Gong. After she was released, she could not return to her work.
Perhaps she still wanted to practice some spiritual beliefs, so she chose to become a nun and has disappeared from the secular world ever since...
This year, her daughter is already 25 years old, as old as the persecution…
