Reflections on Retraction
Yesterday, at the request of the victim, I removed an interview video and related images.
As a journalist, retracting a report that is accurate and truthful is not something I do willingly. However, out of respect for the victim's wishes, I went against my own principles and deleted the content. I also had to ask my fellow "netizens" who had shared it to delete it as well.
The interview was about the harm inflicted by one individual on another in CCP China. The victim wanted to resist the perpetrator or at least let the world know about the harm she had suffered.
However, because the perpetrator held a certain position within the system, this was no longer a matter between individuals but rather between an individual and the system.
So I gradually understood, that in CCP China, any small act of resistance against what seems like a minor evil eventually turns into resistance against the entire system. In other words, if you're not prepared to oppose the entire system, then don't even attempt any small resistance, as it will be futile and fruitless—especially when your economic lifeline is still controlled by the system. It may be better to simply "lie flat" from the start.
Of course, this means you would have to accept being at the mercy of others. But can you willingly swallow everything that comes your way?
Therefore, unless this evil system is dismantled, everyone will ultimately be destroyed by its malevolence.
